What Supercurriculum Does

Type Traditional approach Supercurriculum
Discovery & Pathway Students search for books, articles, podcasts and enrichment opportunities largely on their own, and what they find depends on what they already know to look for. The platform builds each pupil a pathway from their subjects, their level in each one and their stated interests, and re-plans it as their understanding changes — repairing missing prerequisites before moving on.
Practice & Explanation Pupils answer questions and hand them in. Whether they can explain their reasoning is rarely tested. Every task asks for the method as well as the answer, in the pupil's own words, and is written against one curriculum point at one of three levels of challenge.
Getting Unstuck A stuck pupil either waits for the teacher, gives up, or copies an answer from the internet. Three hints, and the escalation is enforced by the platform rather than left to the AI: the first points at what matters as a question, the second names the method without applying it, the third shows only the first step. There is no fourth — it says so, and sends them to their teacher.
Depth & Challenge Enrichment is often passive: pupils consume material but may not analyse, question or reflect on it. Pupils who are secure are given the general rule and when it breaks, a counter-example to find, or a plausible-sounding claim to disprove — not the same question with larger numbers. Every task carries an extension, and a private reflection journal with guided prompts is always open.
Feedback & Improvement Feedback on written work arrives when a teacher has time to read it, which may be next week. Written work is marked as soon as it is submitted: what was right, what is missing, the idea itself explained for that answer, and one concrete next step. It is never a grade — a teacher's view replaces it and is kept alongside.
Evidence & Portfolio Pupils keep loose notes, screenshots and informal records that are hard to present later. A structured portfolio of activities, projects and reflections, linked to the curriculum, which the pupil chooses what to share with their teachers.
Teacher Visibility Supercurricular work happens at home and stays invisible to teachers. Teachers see their own pupils' work, mastery and unmarked submissions by subject and by pupil, with school-level impact reports for leadership. KS3 today; KS4 and KS5 as the curriculum for them is loaded.
Curriculum Alignment Activities may be interesting without being clearly tied to the curriculum, the year group or the Key Stage. Every activity is generated against a specific curriculum point and cannot be served without one, and coverage reporting shows which points have activities, which have evidence of learning, and which have neither — by name.
Equity & Access Strong outcomes favour families who already understand enrichment, admissions and university preparation. No recommendation depends on anything a family has to know or provide. Larger text, high contrast, dyslexia-friendly type, reduced motion, captions, simplified wording and extra time are applied throughout — and the tutor adapts to them without being told the pupil's SEND record.
Safety & Safeguarding Pupils use open websites and public tools, where nothing is watching for a child in difficulty. Every message is screened before it reaches any AI service, in English and Greek. A disclosure never reaches the model, the child is pointed at a named adult, and the school's safeguarding lead is notified — and if nobody at the school holds that role, the administrator is told exactly that.
Privacy & Consent Enrichment tools are adopted one at a time, each with its own account, its own data and its own terms. Nothing leaves the school without consent recorded for that specific purpose, withdrawing it erases what was kept, every AI call is logged with why it was made, and a pupil can see and delete what the tutor remembers about them.
